East coast style...

Please excuse the cheesy photo but it was for a great cause...

The wonderfully generous guys at East Coast Trains have asked me to judge the 'East coast style star' competition in association with Newcastle fashion week  .
The prize is an all expenses, 1st class train journey to Newcastle with £200 spending money when you get here! ( Slightly annoyed I can't enter myself!)  All you have to do is upload a picture of your travelling style to @eastcoastuk and make sure you mention @madeleinebowden in your tweet too and I will pick the best dressed .

Remember, comfort is key but it doesn't mean your sense of style has to go out of the window, it is a chance to explore other realms of clothing you wouldn't normally- silk shirts are a personal favourite of mine whilst train bound.

I will be tweeting some top travelling tips everyday throughout Newcastle fashion week on @madeleinebowden and @eastcoastuk so keep your eyes peeled for those - I have travelled via East Coast A LOT, you would be surprised with the little things you pick up along the way!

Elation...

Dress: Zara
Bag: Zara
Necklace: H&M
Shoes: Zara

Today was my final hand in for University and I feel so utterly elated.
As a celebration of the end of an era, some of my long suffering peers and I- without whom I could not have gotten through these past two months - went for lunch on a roof top terrace to catch some rays (it's 23 degrees people!)
I was donning my brightest brights with this neon shift dress from Zara and a matching neon necklace I happened to stumble across the other day.
I love matching tones and textures to created something more interesting than the original - this necklace adds a whole other dimension to the simple shift.
Congratulations to all my fellow graduates and roll on the summer and whole lotta exciting things to come.

GREAT GATSBY 2012

Great Gatsby 2012

I could not be any more excited about the impending release of this movie. I would actually Que up to see this... whilst wearing a drop waist dress obviously.

CHASE...

CHASE magazine monthly feature

I cannot wait to introduce you to a wonderful project I have recently had the privilege to work on.
CHASE magazine is the North Eats newest fashion and lifestyle magazine.

The brain child of the truly inspirational Lisa Elliott (she's put everything into starting a magazine from scratch, funded solely by herself... if that's not girl power, then I don't know what is?!)

The magazine aims to highlight the beautiful, inspirational fashion that is available to us in the North and to expose a city that is a hub of style, creativity and art.
Wonderful photo shoots, event reviews and compelling features all taking place in and around the North East make this magazine so very special.

With a team consisting of some of the best creative's in the North; Chris Davis of Specular , Marie Harkness of Harkness, UNIT44, Carly Musleh of Beautysauce, Georgia  Claire of Georgia Claire Photography Daniel Bonar of Daniel Bonar Salon and...me of well, here! This project is only going to get bigger and better.

I have a monthly double page spread in the magazine, sort of like my blog.
It consists of things I'm loving, fashion, trends, outfit posts and everything in between so you can catch up with what I'm up to- I will also be contributing some features, art directing and styling photo shoots with aforementioned creative's.

The magazine is free and distributed  all over the City so you can pick one up in any coffee shop, boutique, restaurant, personal shopping suit... even through your front door if you're lucky ;)
or follow on Twitter @chase_magazine

Half-time Limes

Jumper: Cos
Trousers: Reiss
Bag: H&M
Necklace: H&M
Shoes: Zara
Nail varnish: No7
Bracelets: Accessorize

Although this post completely contradicts my last post regarding a lack of blogging due to my final project, (I know, how will you ever trust what I say again?!) I am on a quick break and half way done- yippee!- So as a celebration I decided to share some photos with you.
My best friend Lisa and I were invited to the Metro centre fashion live event last week- the largest shopping centre in Europe (quite how I was unaware of this I am not sure, but you learn something new every day!)
The event was very impressive and we were so wonderfully treat that it made me love our fair city even more.
I wore my new H&M neon necklace and some Reiss snakeskin print silk trousers which remind me somewhat of classic Missoni with the zig zag pattern and all.
I am loving the fresh mix of mint, lime green and neon at the moment - wardrobe saturation is a real risk but one I am willing to take.

See some more pictures and see what Lisa wore at TWICETHEBLOG.

Bon Iver - I Can't Make You Love Me

Bon Iver- I can't make you love me.

As I mentioned in my previous post I am in the final throws of my degree so at the moment blogging has taken a back seat- I will be back in force but for now I need to concentrate fully on my final project... you can still follow me on twitter @madeleinebowden or on instagram madeleinebowden22.
This song is one that I listen to while I'm working, it soothes the soul and provides the perfect canvas for inspiration.
So until next time my lovely readers, listen to this song and let your mind wander
